Opus One Wine Tasting Event: Opus One was born from an extraordinary partnership between two legendary figures in the wine world: Robert Mondavi of Napa Valley and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild in Bordeaux. Their vision was to create a singular wine that would bring together the winemaking heritage and refinement of Bordeaux with the distinctive character and potential of Napa Valley.
The partnership took shape in the 1970s, with the first vintage produced in 1979. Initially known simply as the joint venture between Mondavi and Rothschild, the wine was later given the name Opus One, a name chosen to represent a singular work created through the collaboration of two great winemaking traditions.
