1792 is produced at Barton 1792 Distillery, whose roots date to 1879. Located in Bardstown, Kentucky, the historic distillery has operated under several names and owners throughout its history, surviving the enormous changes that reshaped the American whiskey industry across the 20th century.

The distillery eventually became known as Barton 1792, connecting its historic Bardstown operation with the year of Kentucky statehood. Today, it is part of the Sazerac Company, which has continued bourbon production at the expansive Bardstown property while preserving its traditional warehouses and distilling infrastructure.
